Technical Advisory
A second opinion on AI workflows, architecture and cloud spend.
Independent technical review from someone who has spent seventeen years building and running the systems in question. Fixed scope, a written answer, and a straight no when that is the right answer.
Read this first: this is not a development service
TwistyApps does not build websites or apps, does not provide developers, and does not take on ongoing delivery or support. If that is what you need, this is the wrong page and I will tell you so rather than stretch a review into a project.
What is on offer is review and judgement, delivered as a written document, on a scope agreed in advance.
Who this is for
Three situations, written as they actually turn up.
You have shipped an AI feature and cannot tell if it is working
The demo was convincing. Six months in, nobody can say which part earns its cost, and the people who built it are the people being asked.
A decision is about to become expensive to reverse
A rewrite, a platform move, a cloud bill that keeps climbing. You want someone with no stake in the outcome to look before it is locked in.
You are about to buy or invest in a codebase
You need to know what is really in there and how much of the team’s knowledge is written down, before the money moves.
The five reviews
Each one is a fixed scope agreed before it starts, and each one ends in a document you keep. None of them turns into a project.
1. AI workflow and product audit
Where an AI feature or internal workflow actually helps, where it is decoration, and what breaks at volume.
You get: written findings, ranked by the cost of being wrong.
2. Software architecture review
Whether the design will hold, and which decisions get expensive to reverse later.
You get: a written review with reversible and irreversible decisions separated.
3. AI-assisted development review
Whether the team is getting real throughput from AI coding tools, and what the quality cost is.
You get: findings plus a short list of changes worth making.
4. AWS and infrastructure review
Where the money goes, which of it buys nothing, and what the performance cost of the savings would be.
You get: itemised findings with an estimated saving per item.
5. Technical due diligence
For an investor or an acquirer: what is really in this codebase, and how much of it lives only in one person’s head.
You get: a confidential written assessment.
What this is not
Stated plainly, because the fastest way to waste both our time is an enquiry for something that is never going to be on offer here.
- Not website or app development. Nothing is built, rebuilt or maintained.
- Not a retainer. There is no monthly arrangement, no hourly rate, no block of hours.
- Not dedicated developers or staff augmentation. Nobody joins your team.
- Not ongoing DevOps or support. No on-call, no maintenance, no twenty-four-hour cover.
- Not implementation. The review tells you what I would do. Doing it is yours, or your team’s.
- Not marketing, SEO or content consulting. Different page, different conversation.
One engagement at a time
This is deliberate and it is not going to change. TwistyApps is a publication first, and advisory work is kept small so it stays that way. If a review is already running, the honest answer to your enquiry is a date rather than a yes. You will get that date instead of being strung along.
How it works
- You describe the situation. A few sentences on what is happening and what decision depends on the answer. That is the filter, and it takes you five minutes.
- A short call if it looks like a fit. Thirty minutes, to work out what a useful answer would actually require.
- A fixed scope and a price, in writing. What is covered, what is not, what you receive and when. Nothing starts before you have agreed to it.
- The work, mostly asynchronous. Access to what is needed, questions by email, no standing meetings. Your team keeps working.
- The written findings. The document is the deliverable. One call to walk through it if you want one.
Pricing is quoted per enquiry rather than published, because the useful scope varies more than any rate card would survive. Commercial and invoicing details are confirmed with you privately before anything starts.
Why me
Seventeen years building and operating software, across development, DevOps and cloud infrastructure, and several of those spent working with AI coding tools as they went from novelty to daily use.
The more useful evidence is public, and you can judge it before you contact anyone. TwistyApps publishes its method, not just its conclusions: how a thing was tested, what the test could not show, and what was left unproven. That is the same discipline a review gets.
- AI coding tools, tested rather than summarised
- What happens to your data in AI tools
- The free tools on this site, all built here
If the analysis on those pages looks like the kind of thinking your problem needs, that is the best signal available. If it does not, you have saved yourself an email.
Confidentiality
Anything you share stays between us. Nothing about your company, your systems, your code or your numbers is published, quoted or mentioned anywhere without your explicit written permission.
If a piece of work is ever written up, it is anonymised by default, with no company name, no identifying detail and no internal metrics, and only ever with your agreement first. I am happy to work under your NDA. Ask and we will sign it before the call, not after.
Describe your situation
Tell me what is happening and what decision depends on the answer. I read every one of these myself and reply within a few working days, including when the answer is that it is not something I should take on.
Nothing is published from this form. It reaches a person, who reads it and replies.
